HEALTH SCREENING FORMS

There are currently three legal negligence cases being brought against three NAKMAS instructors (they are protected by their Civil/General Liability insurance) but some issues have arisen as a direct result of these cases.

The NAKMAS Health Screening Form was devised to assist all instructors and affiliates on their legal responsibiliies, in particular those that teach children under 8 years (The Children Act 1989). We have found that affiliates are not using these forms for their students prior to training. Worst still, some affiliates have adapted the form for their own use and have left off vital information which has raised some legal issues.

Our immediate and urgent advice to all NAKMAS affiliates is to use the NAKMAS approved Health Screening form and a copy of the form is available from the Downloads Section of the main website.

It is very important to ensure that the form is used and handed to the club for inspection prior to allowing them to train.
